Syllabus for week of September 23
Monday
- Discussing "the most important yet least obvious" connection between Campbell's monomyth and the film Star Wars.
- We will also begin reading the Hindu background in small groups.
- HW: Read up to page 35 in the packet. Remember to keep a working list of definitions and terms for a crossword we'll create together.
Tuesday
- Collect and discuss the analysis of your chosen film. Review of quote integration, MLA format, and multi-genre.
- HW: Finish reading the handout on Hinduism.
Wednesday
- Crossword day! While students are working on a crossword review of Hindu terms, I will continue college essay conferences.
- HW: Watch the documentary narrated by Ben Kingsley by class on Monday.
Thursday
- Today we will meet in computer lab 224 to work on college essay.
- HW: Read the children's story, "How Ganesha Got His Elephant Head" for class on Friday.
Friday
- Today we will meet in computer lab 224 to work on college essay.
- HW: Remember that you need to have finished the documentary by class on Monday! It is available in the Read>English>Easton>Videos folder on the read drive. You will want to hammer out a draft of your monomyth film analysis for Monday, too.
