Sita's Journey

From our westernized perspective, it's easy to see Rama as the ideal hero: he slays demons, nobly enters a quest to save his father's honor, helps re-establish cosmic order by slaying Ravana. But Sita, too, is a warrior on her hero journey. We've been looking at women in The Ramayana, examined Ahalya's test of purity, discussed how women are portrayed.
