Final Syllabus of First Semester, January 5 2015

THE FINAL will be on Wednesday, January 21st at 2:00 pm in room 320-C, in our Library. You should plan on bringing headphones (or earbuds), pens and pencils. 

Monday

  • Overview of the final and what it will entail. Overview of annotating Like Water for Chocolate, and an introduction of Jung: A Very Short Introduction. Reading and lecturing on Jungian theory of self. 
  • HW: Haven't read chapters 1-3 in LWFC? Get caught up tonight. Also, if you have yet to post your answer to the question on Homer's Iliad, do that. 

Tuesday

  • Returning annotated copies of Homer's Iliad and reviewing some of the posted, written responses to the question on Homeric heroism. You should address the trends discussed in your final essay. Returning to chapter two of Jung, page 50-52, the actualization of types. Time permitting, we will begin discussion of chapter one, LWFC.
  • HW: Complete the chapters 1-3 study guide on LWFC.

Wednesday

  • If needed, we will return to the Homer responses and finish discussing the stylistic trends they present. Then returning to Jung, pages 52-55, the currency of archetypal theory. T-chart analysis of LWFT for mythological and psychological trends. 
  • HW: Read chapter four and answer questions on LWFC.

Thursday

  • Discussion of LWFC, chapters one through four.
  • HW: No homework. 

Friday

  • Video on Carl Jung and his impact on modern society. 
  • HW: Read chapters 5 and 6 of LWFC.
