November 21, Syllabus
SOME OF THE LESSONS FROM OUR ESSAY readings: in your introduction, remember to eliminate the rhetorical language of the prompt (most important, least obvious) but to include the author/translator/title and a preview of your reasons; in language, eliminate all indefinate personal pronouns (such as some, like, many, thing, this, that, one, people) and minimize to be helping verbs; in organization, remember to start your body paragraphs with your idea ABOUT the text, not plot based examples, and likewise connect body paragraphs with transistional sentences that interconnect the ideas of both paragraphs.
