March 20, Syllabus
WHY DOES OUR STORYTELLER CREATE a dual personality in Sindbad the Sailor and Sindbad the Porter? If these two persons are, in fact, opposite sides on one personality, what conclusions might we draw about these fantastic tales or adventure, discovery, greed, and folly? Why does Sindbad time after time depart to unknown lands, and at what risk? Annotate for this as you read Haddaway's Arabian Nights.
