Syllabus for 9/23 through 9/27

WE NOW EMBARK ON A HERO JOURNEY from Andalusia to Cairo as Santiago the Shepherd seeks his treasure. As you are reading, keep track of aphorisms, short statements that illustrate a larger life lesson. An obvious example would be : “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: fear of failure.” The test of the oil in the spoon is another fine example. This week we will begin searching for examples of “departure” in film , using screen capture technology to share clips from popular films. And while listening to The Alchemist, I will start writing conferences for the college essay.
