Final Writing Assignment: Over the Garden Wall

We started this course with a graphic short story, “Missing Persons,” the tale of a man who wakes up one day to discover that he is no longer himself, but is a mere shadow of himself, which he stays until he imagines he saves himself from drowning in a lake. We close the course with the story of Wirt and Greg, two half-brothers lost in the woods.

How is this last tale a canonical example of both mythological and psychological literature? How does this tale embody the values of the course?
