One of the more lovely examples of nostalgic Americana is the Burma Shave sign campaign which were one of the earliest examples of roadside billboards, and ran from the 1920s through the early 1960s. Though not seen in your lifetime, these signs, spaced so that cars travelling at high speeds could read the jingle over the stretch of a mile or so, were once ubiquitous and known by every American.
