Syllabus for Week of April 14
Monday
- In class we will finish small group work on chapter 17 and 18. And then we will return to our junior theme research projects. Now that you have a) chosen and read your book, b) begun background research, and c) have written about your book, you are prepared to begin your final research. An important part of that is the social aspect of research.
- HW: Tomorrow we will be in the Library. You should look at your noodle-bib account and check to see that you have eight entries, for of which should be annotated. If not, do that.
Tuesday
- In the Library. We will focus on the messy nature of research, how to read a works cited page (and a bibliographic entry like a sentence) and the role of groups in research.
- HW: Get caught up and complete your noodle-bib entries.
Wednesday
- Students will be in their research groups discussing their ideas about the novels they read. What do YOU think about what your author was writing? What is most important in YOUR view? After discussing and taking notes, students will discuss research techniques and research process. What did you find out along the way? What are you thinking currently? What do you need to find out more about?
- HW: Begin the additional research. A new noodlebib bibliography is due Monday. It should have at least 12 sources, 8 of which have annotations.
Thursday
- Meeting in the library to continue research in your groups. Remember to help students as needed. While you aren't working together on this, you should be using one another as research helpers. Ask for advice. Ask questions. Seek to help one another.
- HW: Read chapter 19 of IM, up through page 422.
Friday
- No school for Good Friday.
- HW: A revised annotated bibliography is due (on and shared) on noodlebib. Bring in a copy to hand in as well.
