American Literature

American Literature is a graduation-required literature and composition course, in which students challenge their understanding of what America is, who is Americans are, and how America has come to be.

Syllabus for Week of April 21

Monday

Lecture on writing argumentative introductions for a literary paper. In-class writing of a new introduction.
HW: Type, revise, and post your new introduction as a comment to the introduction post just preceding this one. After you post it, check for the introductions posted by your research-team peers, and read them.

Tuesday

In the Library. We will focus on the messy nature of research, how to read a works cited page (and a bibliographic entry like a sentence) and the role of groups in research.
HW: Get caught up and complete your noodle-bib entries.

Wednesday

No class because of state mandated ACT testing.
HW: xxx

Thursday

No class because of state mandated PSAE testing.
HW: Read chapter 19 of IM, up through page 422.

Friday

Meeting in the library.
