Week (8 and) 9 Syllabus, 2/29/16
LAST WEEK, WE READ THROUGH SEVERAL DOCUMENTS IN OUR WILDERNESS packet. On Friday we began reading through the first three chapters of a novel that illustrates Americans' view of wilderness, the first of four novels in a series by Conrad Richter's The Trees. Prior to that, we watched a documentary on American painters, and how they envisioned nature throughout the 19th century. And we started the week by examining the beautiful and haunting Dead Man, a film that viscerally illustrates Muir's fears relating to westward expansion and the destruction. This week we wrap up our analysis of Americans' view of nature and wilderness.
MONDAY
- Meeting in the library to complete a status update, worth 25 points, a review of Noodle bibliographies and how to share them, write annotations, and talk about key word lists.
