WE END THIS YEAR WITH three tales from Arabian Nights: "The Story of Sindbad the Sailor," "The Story of 'Ali Baba and the Fourty Thieves" and "The Story of 'Ala-al-Din and the Magic Lamp." We will wrap the year with a viewing of a lovely fairy/myth animated tale called Over the Garden Wall. There will likewise be one, final writing assignment.

Analysis of the tales up to this point, listing the most extraordinary events and discussing symbolism. Time permitting, we will read journey #5 together.

We are watching the Popeye version of Sindbad. Introduction to 'Ali-Baba.
Read page 65 through 87.

THURSDAY-5/17

Finishing 'Ali Baba together in class. Then watching the Popeye version of 'Ali Baba. Starting 'Ala al-Din today in class.
Read 101-115 tonight.

FRIDAY-5/18

Picking up at 116 together in class. As with Sindbad, we will detail the more unusual aspects of the story and think about both the mythic and psychological components of the tale.
Finish this tale for class on Monday. Annotations are due Monday!
