Syllabus for Week of March 3
Monday
- Starting today by collecting final revisions to the Water for Chocolate/Today's Special essays. We will finish watching the documentary on Jung. What does he say about dealing with trauma? We will revisit the topic as we finish Life of Pi.
- HW: Finish reading part one of the novel.
Tuesday
- Today we will brefily discuss part one and what Pi's name means to him, how Pi attempts to understand his world. We will then listen to the start of part two, which is set on the Pacific Ocean.
- HW: Read the next twenty or so pages, up to chapter 46 (p. 123)
Wednesday
- Continuing our discussion of Pi. How does Pi cope with his life threatening situation? Watching a selected scene from the documentary, "The Endurance."
- HW: Read chapters Read up to chapter 52 in Life of Pi (p. 145)
Thursday
- Watching more of the documentary, "The Endurance."
- HW: Read up through and including chapter 56 (p. 162)
Friday
- No class today because of early dismissal.
- HW: See the homework above. Be on chapter 57 for Monday.
