September 26, Syllabus

YOUR COLLEGE ESSAY IS DUE ONE WEEK AFTER our initial writing conference. Please staple your first draft with my written comments upon it to the back of the new draft. I will NOT make a point of tracking you down to collect these. It's incumbent upon you to turn this revision in in a timely manner. It's upon the revision that this assignment will be graded.

MONDAY

  • Today 6th period will work on The Alchemist hero journey notes and the aphorism notes that we began last week.
  • HW: Finish reading the novel for class on Thursday. And of course, remember to complete and turn in your college essay revision.

TUESDAY

  • Beginning the aphorism assignment. For this, you will need to complete a written component and a visual component, both of which will a) capture your interpretation of the text, and b) also explain how that aphorism applies to your life. Due Monday, October 3.
  • HW: Finishing the novel. I will collect BOTH the analysis of the hero journey AND the aphorism analysis on Thursday.

Class notes on the aphorism assignment, due Monday, October 3.

WEDNESDAY
